Make Me Up Monday

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable!

Now, I tried this product after a great friend suggested it to me. I hesitated buying it but eventually caved.

I love the feeling of it. I love that it gives color without a gloppy mess. I love the slight tingle, I like the smell.

I don't love this color on me. I loved it just by looking at the package. I thought it would be more of a brighter lilac color. It actually gets darker once applied. I'm not one for dark-ish lips. I'm a very nude pink kind of girl. So this is definitely not a color I will reach for often.

I find that when I use it, I use something lighter on top of it to get it to a shade I like.

Even though I'm not digging this color, I do want to pick up a different shade, just to test it out.

Color is ; Darling

Gabrielle ; 13 months

Still breast fed.

Had her first taste of cows milk this month. She's been having it mixed with my breast milk when I'm at work. When I'm with her we strictly just nurse.

Obsessed with Santa.

4 teeth. 21 lbs. Wakes 2-3 times a night, still. I haven't slept a full night in a year!

She laughs when we are laughing, like she knows what's so funny. It's so cute.

She will bring us a diaper when she needs a change. Not all the time, but sometimes!

Stands unassisted for a good 5 seconds.

Make Me Up Monday

Back to basics.

From time to time, I like to try things out of the usual. Like, the latest was foundation and mascara. My usual foundation I always use, and have for years, is by Rimmel. My usual mascara, that I've also used for years, Loreal Voluminous.

I can't explain to you why I keep trying to find different products, when I'm pretty happy with what I've found works for me. Maybe I'm hoping to find something similar but BETTER!

Like the items pictured below.

Loreal Voluminous has been my holy grail mascara since high school (long long long time ago). It does everything I want it to. It's affordable, long lasting, build able, gives a ton of volume, easy to apply, curls well when using an eye lash curler. Basically makes me look like I'm wearing falsies. I get TONS of compliments when I wear this mascara.

Rimmel foundation. I've used this for the last couple years. It has great coverage, affordable, gives my skin a dewy finish, and I get many compliments when I use this, too.

Then I tried to change it up.

I've used millions of mascaras. Granted 99% of them were drug store brand. I have only tried 3 department store brands. Clinic (forever ago but I remember I liking it), Dior, and the one pictured below from Estée Lauder. Dior was ok. It gave more of a natural separated lash look. Which is not at all what I go for. Estée Lauder has been the only one that comes closes to Loreal Voluminous. It gives the more "false eyelash" look.

From past posts, you know I am not a fan of MAC foundations. I haven't used it in awhile and my face is clearing up!

For now I am back to basics. I am on the hunt to try and find another foundation and mascara. I have heard great things about a Cover Girl foundation that I am tempted to try. I keep going back and forth about it because I'm not a fan of Cover Girl. As for mascara, I'm alway up for trying anything that gives the full false look.

Suggestions are welcome!

A Day In My Life

I did A Day In My Life today.

Always loved doing these projects. It's even THAT much easier to do just by using your phone. It's convenient, yes. But I do miss using an actual camera sometimes. That will be a project for when we actually get out of the house and do something! If you read my last post, you'll know that wont be happening for awhile.

It was very rainy and gloomy today. I even got about a 10 minute nap in. Gabby took a nap too. We ate some good food and watched a Lifetime movie, or two. I love days off when we can be lazy! :) I'll be honest, I stayed in pj's all day long.

Cha-cha-changes

We have one weekend left together to spend as a family. Starting the 22nd, Mario starts his new work schedule. He will be off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I still have off Tuesday and Wednesday.

He switched his schedule so he can go to school. He will be taking the test to get his CDL license, then off to driving school for about 4 months. He'll go to school over the weekend.

It'll be a change. No days off together, and he won't be able to come with me to any of Gabby's upcoming appointments. Which happen to be when she gets shots. Which he happens to be there to make sure she stays still for. Which means, that'll now be my job! :(

Come to think of it, our schedules might be pretty crazy from here on out. For longer than 4 months. Really going to enjoy our last Tuesday and Wednesday off together this week.

Spring Cleaning

Ahhh, I love the feeling of de-cluttering! It's like you are wiping the slate clean.

We organized Gabby's room tonight. We had things laying around from after we got back from Arizona. Also pictures and decorations from her birthday party. I cleared out her dresser and hubby did the closet. We went through her clothes and tossed into a box, anything smaller than 9months.

Two boxes full of clothes ready to go into storage. Just like that. We are going to hold on to her smaller clothes, "just in case." We still have a little more to go, organizing her shoes, headbands and flowers, etc. but we are getting there.

We started on our room too! In our room we have a shelf that holds about 6 bins. In those bins, you will find a whole mess of things. My makeup bin is all fixed up :)

What is the rule? If you haven't used/worn it in the last 6 months, get rid of it. Right? I need to remember this tomorrow, when I tackle the rest of the bins and my closet. Dun dun dun!

Spring cleaning is under way!

Make Me Up Monday

MAC mini haul.

Once in awhile, it's fun to step out of your comfort zone. I can say I did just that with my latest MAC purchases. Every thing I bought (except Japanese Maple and an eye shadow that hasn't come in yet) is unlike me.

If you peeked into my makeup collection, you'd see a lot of browns, grays, and black eye shadows. You'd see pale pink and a variety of different nude lip sticks and glosses.

I do have a few pinks, greens, even blues in my eyeshadow collection, but they are deep and more everyday wear that is easy to blend with the colors I normally choose.

So this! This is definitely different for me. I am looking forward to trying out all of my new eyeshadows and lippies!

Time Management

I feel like the first time, in a whole year, we had a smooth day that was full of things we needed to accomplish... And we accomplished them faster than we usually do.

Here's a run down for yesterday:

•While hubby was at the gym, Gabby and I headed to Walgreens to pick up our pictures (and to buy a new nail polish and eye brow brush).

•We came back home by 10:30am and she took her nap and hubby returned home from the gym.

•We went and got groceries and photo albums, and made it home around 2pm.

•Had some lunch and put Gabby down for her second nap.

•I had photos put in books while talking to my Gram on the phone.

•Dinner was ready to eat at 6.

•Bath and my shower done by 7pm.

•Relaxed and watched American Idol and Gabby was asleep by 8:30pm.

•I got lunch made and had more time to just relax. 2 hours of relaxing time!

Usually we are RUSHING to get dinner done, Gabby's bath done, and more, all at the same time.

I don't know what change for us yesterday. Better time management? Better multi tasking? Whatever it was, worked. I hope this hangs around from here on out.

Make Me Up Monday

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

I was so excited when I purchased this foundation. I had seen other reviews and had to have it. All the reviews I read said this was a great foundation. I'm sure it is...if you have the right skin type.

I have combination skin. It's dry in some areas, others its oily. I break out in the same oily places but not too often. It's a mess, ha.

This is a gel based foundation. That is what most grabbed my attention. It is silky smooth to the touch. I never found it to be heavy looking or feeling.

I've been wearing this for the last 3 weeks. Since then, I have broken out where I never usually do. Very sporadic breakouts. Not just itty bitty bumps, I had some pretty good sized zits appear (or so I thought). Bummer!

I love the look of it when it's on as well as the feel. I personally didn't think it was heavy. They told me a little goes a long way. But I didn't think so. I had to use about a pea size on each cheek area, a pea size on my forehead, and a pea size on my chin. Most of the time, I had to add a bit more to make sure I liked the coverage. I used my hand to apply. Usually I use a kabuki brush. It lasts all day and I love the dewy look it gives. But I can't stand the breakouts! I don't think the gel base agrees with my skin. Very unfortunate. Once this tube is gone, I will not be repurchasing.

I once again prove to myself that.... MAC foundation is not for me.

Have you tried MAC foundations? Do you love them or hate them?
